Beautiful, healthy hooves

by Jenny
(Ontario)

Here are some photos of a Rocky Mountain Horse that I have been trimming for a little over a year. He has fantastic feet with great concavity.

The photos are of his front left hoof and show a lovely self-exfoliated sole (current ground conditions are snow and ice so everything on the bottom of the hoof has been polished naturally by the ground).

He has a nice wide frog and a well developed digital cushion.

How I wish all horses had hooves like Whistler!

Thanks

Thanks for putting in a "normal" looking hoof. I am trying to educate myself as much as possible in barefoot but the most frustrating thing is knowing what is "normal". We get so use to seeing the abnormal and thinking it's right. Doesn't help when the professionals you ask for help say "that's just how his feet are". And thanks also for the easy to understand format of the information you provide. It's not rocket science - but it's vitally important to know what you're doing & WHY.
